The Imperishable Spirit of Adolescence

What really is the best phase of our life? According to me, its the imperishable spirit of teenage period that remains etched on our minds even when we become senior citizens; in majority, it invokes a sense of perplexity, confusion and befuddlement yet this time phase also heralds our timeless self-exploration complemented with thrill and adventure. I bet, people who are or were below 18 years and above 12 years, can reminisce all the possible beautiful memories embedded in their repertoire of  past moments.
Perhaps, teenagers have always been mavericks by nature for they always think out of the box with their built in curiosity. (Lil' Curious Georges)
As they always say, its the blessings we see in the hindsight.

Why am I really talking about teenage in spirituality? This is because, while spirituality is all about self actualization and realization, adolescence is the moment where we eradicate all the haze and ambiguity within us. Something strongly urged me to write this post; a couple of days ago, I read a novel called, 'A Girl Like That'  which had about 400 pages and I completed it within one day!(It was that captivating!!)
The beautiful penmanship of the author, Tanaz Bhathena, portrays the protagonist, Zarin Wadia as a rebellious, deeply-wounded however an audacious, confident individual. As we are part of this period, the society constantly judge us of our habits and choices while our personality is just upon the modelling stage. This is also reflected in Zarin's life who becomes an orphan during her childhood and is further nurtured by her aunt and uncle. Due to the discriminative temperament of the society towards her, she gradually becomes rebellious; I guess, the portrait painted by the author of teen ambition, angst and alienation brought a wonderful new world to me with Wadia's story is puzzled together with different prisms of perception. In the following end of the novel, the chapters become emblematic of the lengths sometimes, unappreciated teens can go to love and be loved. While the entire cosmos is unfair to the rebellious girl, a boy called Porus focuses on her 'creme-de la-creme' traits. On one hand, people refuse their children from interacting with "A Girl Like That" whereas Porus wants to know everything about her- goods & bads.

Any teen who would read this or someone who has experienced adolescence very deeply, is bound to go into the deep sea and flow with the thoughts of the turquoise ripples that tell us who we are. Try this exercise at home. Ask yourself- 'Who Am I?' You are definitely not the person that people envision you as but an individual who is perceived by you and what you feel about yourself...
There are so many types of souls you all must have heard of- old, immature, young, baby, senile, etc. Out of all of these, its the young soul that is lively, charismatic, jovial, vivacious that conquers us all adolescents. But, even when we will become sexagenarians, somewhere overtly rooted in our heart will be the imperishable, young soul that we have now as 14, 15 or 16 years old; I can still see how my mom remembers the stampede of mischiefs she had done as sophomore and there isn't never a time when she hasn't looked back at it and chuckle. It even entertains  and reminds me to also make my teenage more memorable and unforgettable. So my fellow readers, Carpe Diem is all I have to say for we have to live in the present and not ruin cherished moments with stress that is to be inevitably faced by us when we become responsible adults!!!
