The Core of Yog...

Nowadays, you must have heard of yoga. But, do you know how commercialized it has become? All the spiritual businesses are based either on yoga camps or yoga exercises. According to the Vedic Scriptures, the true yoga exercises are known as yog. Therefore, today we will be discussing about the core of it as well as how it is actually done.

What do you mean by "yog"?

Whenever we talk about yog, we refer to "hatha" yoga which are exercises practiced by the Western regions, regarding their physical postures as well as embarking on an inner journey to your own astral form ( spiritual/psychic energy). Hence, it deepens you to the innermost core of epiphany ( sudden realization of something great) of your own self. The purpose of yog is to have an insight to all the important five elements in this universe , including the significance of the elevation of your eternal Spirit and your temporary Soul. This ''Allness" (elements) is constituted by the following: Earth (bhoomi), Water/fluidity, fire( agni), air and void space. Once you gain dexterity over all these elements, you start recognizing the source of Supreme Energy in each of them thus, realizing their inner and truly deep significance. For instance: you will eventually get to learn that each water molecule has memory. So, whatever you speak (whether having negative or positive vibrations), that will immensely impact the water molecules, leaving a permanent influence or memory. If you are sad, drinking water won't be as special and refreshing as drinking water when you are elated.  Now, while understanding yog, you should learn to compare your body with the five elements. LIke:
  1. Your Body As the Earth
  2.  Our Thoughts or Notions as fluid since they flow like Water
  3. Our internal functions like the elements  of Fire
  4. Our breath as air
  5. Finally, our final destination (upper or bottom world/ heaven or hell) as an element of void space where our Spirit is eternal however, our Soul may be temporary.

Few Things To Keep In Mind...

  1. Do Yog In A Nude Way:  Don't be astonished or perplexed! Doing yog in a nude way, means to expose or bring enlightenment to all the five elements and in all representing Mother Nature. The God of yog or meditation is Lord Shiva who believed in wearing less clothes while practicing yog. A couple of methods to follow this way are:
i) Try opening the windows or door of the room you will be sitting in, so you could let in fresh air and complete the element of air and Earth.
ii) Be aware of the temperature ( not too hot or cold) so that it doesn't negatively impact your inner bodily fire.
iii) You can go beyond your ordinary sight and try to open your third eye completely so you can even envision extraordinary things and the astral world.

2. Sthira- this is an imperative feature of the yog exercises as this helps you attain bliss, joy, moksha (salvation), tranquility, calmness and pristinity of all the elements in your body as well as the inner harmony of your Self and Soul. When you catapult yourself into the posture or breath of Sthira, you enhance Soul Development of a breathless being and reach the ultimate realization by chanting "AUM" (correctly) and arriving to the acme of Supreme gymnastics. You can attain Sthira through your pristine breath from your breathless soul.

The Tantra...

They say that yog is tantra. But, what do you mean by it? According to vedic scriptures, it refers to the connection between the Source and Human Reality through eternal happiness. It teaches about the wisdom we gain from our roots by which our root chakra is activated during yog, including that all the power remains in the journey of realization and Divine Consciousness. So, as we progress with our daily yog we create bliss by gradually unraveling the many layers of reality. (Again, activating our chakras and eradicating delusions). Thus, we make our thoughts even more powerful which may one day all come true. It awakens the Mother Kundalini (our inner, bodily fire), thus widening awareness of our Self and the manifestations of the Divine. Therefore, it is derived from Tantiram  which means uniting all the wisdom and waking up our consciousness.

Now, let’s talk about the five asanas of Yoga!:
I) Tandasana/Mountain Pose: This is one of the easiest poses that is extremely beneficial for sexagenarians and above. This majorly erects bad posture by working on the abs, legs, back. The benefits include improvement in blood circulation, stress relief, improvement in posture and digestive system.
II) Uttanasana- This is a classic inversion pose where by standing in an inversion pose the hamstrings, calves, lower back is stretched while there is pressure on the ankles and abdomen.  It’s advantages include relief in chronic back pain, improvement in blood circulation , strengthen hamstrings, makes you more flexible!
III) Baddha Konasana/ Butterfly Pose- this usually engages the groin area. It is usually done early in the morning on an empty stomach. It helps in stimulating the urinary bladder, managing kidney problems,  deals with menopause process, improvement in digestive system, relieves fatigue.

IV) Bhujangasana- This is a pose that familiarises the rising head of a cobra. It usually engages the lower back, shoulders and chest. This should be especially practised in the morning for those with spine injuries or lower back pain problems. It deals with lower back pain, spine problems, releases pressure from shoulders and chest, stretches the abdomen, improves flexibility, gets rid of hunching problems.
V) Shavasana- This is one of the most renowned poses ever. It’s usually done at the end of every yoga session and involves lying down on the back and breathing uniformly while relaxing each muscle. It cures insomnia, improves concentration, deals constipation, improves mental health, relieves stress and rejuvenates the body!!!

At last, the art of yog is not  about commercializing it but is to bond with the Source of tranquility, calmness, joy, happiness, good health and state of mind by awakening the five elements that lie inside our body including with the nature which is also a manifestation of the Supreme. So, its truly yog not yoga!
